Great Basin is the name of the wider region in which no water from precipitation reaches the ocean. It's the only National Park in Nevada and is one of the less visited parks due to it being a bit remote.
The park is much more alpine than I expected which a nice surprise after so much time in deserts. There was also more wildlife than we'd seem so far. Twice on hikes we ran into deer in the forest which was exciting. There were also loads of wild turkeys. Mountain lions live in the park too and we definitely felt a bit more apprehensive with so few people around.
